PRAYER: THE SHIELD AND SWORD OF THE CHRISTIAN WARRIOR

Brothers and Sisters of Tribe 13,
A warrior’s strength is measured by the fire of their spirit and the depth of their communion with God. It is prayer fervent, disciplined, unwavering prayer that transforms an ordinary man or woman into a spiritual warrior, ready to stand against darkness. Prayer is the invisible armor, the breath of the soul, and the unbreakable bond between the Protector and the Almighty.
In this world, many rely on physical training, tactics, equipment, and skill. These things are necessary. But what the world cannot see and what the enemy fears the most is the warrior who begins every battle on his knees. Only through prayer does a Protector learn to see the "battlefield" as God sees it. Only through prayer can one resist the whispers of the enemy, the weight of fear, and the distractions that seek to weaken the heart. Prayer awakens the warrior’s spirit, sharpens the mind, strengthens the will, and reinforces the soul against every assault.
The power of prayer is not symbolic; it is literal. Heaven responds. Archangels move. Darkness recoils. God listens.
And nowhere is this truth more evident than in the example of the Knights Templar, the ones from which we take our inspiration our model, the legendary warrior-monks who dedicated their lives to the defense of pilgrims and the holy places. Their power came from their swords combined with their faith.
The Templar's understood what many forget today: that the greatest battles are won long before the sword is drawn. These warriors prayed constantly, at dawn, before riding out, before every mission, before engaging the enemy, and after every victory or loss. Templar's prayed at least 7 times a day, and sometimes more depending on the situation. They lived under a strict rule that required hours of prayer daily. They fasted. They confessed. They recited the Psalms. Their chaplains blessed their weapons, not because steel is holy, but because the warrior’s heart must be sanctified before entering the fray. The Templar's rode into battle with the name of Christ on their lips and the certainty that God was with them.
Because of their devotion, they fought without fear. Chroniclers wrote that the Templar's did not break ranks, did not panic, and did not retreat unless vastly outnumbered and even then, many chose to stand and fight to the last breath, believing that the cause of Christ was worth every drop of blood. Their courage was not arrogance; it was faith. They believed that no warrior dies before the appointed hour and that no enemy can break a man who is spiritually fortified.
The Templar's believed and lived the warrior truth that Tribe 13 now embraces:
A knight whose soul is anchored in prayer connected with God is more powerful than any enemy who relies only on the sword.
As Christian Protectors, you walk this same ancient path. Your battles may differ, your missions may be modern, but the spiritual reality is unchanged. The enemy is still cunning, the world is still dangerous, and darkness still seeks to deceive and destroy. But the Protector who prays stands in the lineage of those holy warriors who refused to bow before evil.

When you pray, Brothers and Sisters, you join the same heavenly ranks that the Templar's trusted. You call upon the same God who strengthened them. You invoke the same Archangel who led their battles, Saint Michael the Archangel, the patron saint of warriors, the prince of the heavenly hosts, the defender of God’s people.
Saint Michael continues his work even now, standing guard over those who fight in the name of righteousness. He is our Tribe 13 patron saint, he stands beside us as he once stood beside the Templar's, guiding, protecting, and empowering every faithful warrior.
And so you too must pray not casually, not only when convenient, but as a discipline, a weapon, and a way of life. Pray before you act, pray before you speak, pray before you confront darkness. Let prayer become your instinct, your breath, your shield. Let it be the first thing you reach for when battle stirs and the last thing you cling to when the dust settles.
Take up the ancient prayer spoken by warriors for generations:
Saint Michael the Archangel long variant prayer:
“O Glorious Prince of the heavenly host, St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in the battle and in the terrible warfare that we are waging against the principalities and powers, against the rulers of this world of darkness, against the evil spirits. Come to the aid of man, whom Almighty God created immortal, made in His own image and likeness, and redeemed at a great price from the tyranny of Satan.
“Fight this day the battle of the Lord, together with the holy angels, as already thou hast fought the leader of the proud angels, Lucifer, and his apostate host, who were powerless to resist thee, nor was there place for them any longer in Heaven. That cruel, ancient serpent, who is called the devil or Satan who seduces the whole world, was cast into the abyss with his angels. Behold, this primeval enemy and slayer of men has taken courage. Transformed into an angel of light, he wanders about with all the multitude of wicked spirits, invading the earth in order to blot out the name of God and of His Christ, to seize upon, slay and cast into eternal perdition souls destined for the crown of eternal glory. This wicked dragon pours out, as a most impure flood, the venom of his malice on men of depraved mind and corrupt heart, the spirit of lying, of impiety, of blasphemy, and the pestilent breath of impurity, and of every vice and iniquity.
“These most crafty enemies have filled and inebriated with gall and bitterness the Church, the spouse of the immaculate Lamb, and have laid impious hands on her most sacred possessions. In the Holy Place itself, where the See of Holy Peter and the Chair of Truth has been set up as the light of the world, they have raised the throne of their abominable impiety, with the iniquitous design that when the Pastor has been struck, the sheep may be scattered.
“Arise then, O invincible Prince, bring help against the attacks of the lost spirits to the people of God, and give them the victory. They venerate thee as their protector and patron; in thee holy Church glories as her defense against the malicious power of hell; to thee has God entrusted the souls of men to be established in heavenly beatitude. Oh, pray to the God of peace that He may put Satan under our feet, so far conquered that he may no longer be able to hold men in captivity and harm the Church. Offer our prayers in the sight of the Most High, so that they may quickly find mercy in the sight of the Lord; and vanquishing the dragon, the ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, do thou again make him captive in the abyss, that he may no longer seduce the nations. Amen.
Saint Michael the Archangel short prayer:
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil;
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
And do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits
who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
This prayer simple yet mighty is a call to arms for Heaven itself. When spoken with faith, it surrounds the warrior with angelic protection and steels the heart for whatever lies ahead. It is the warrior’s battle cry.
Brothers and Sisters of Tribe 13, never forget that prayer is your greatest weapon and your surest defense. It is the force that binds you to God, empowers your mission, and transforms your spirit into something the enemy fears. As long as you walk with Christ, stand under the banner of Saint Michael, you will remain unshakeable, unstoppable, and unbreakable.
Brothers and Sisters of Tribe 13, as your Chaplain, I urge you with all sincerity and fatherly care to establish a holy rhythm of prayer in your daily life. Just as you train your body with discipline learning combat skills, a Christian warrior must train the heart and spirit with consistency. Therefore, I call upon each one of you, every Brother, every Sister to pray three times a day: in the morning, at midday, and again at night.
In the morning, lift your heart to God before the world attempts to pull you in every direction. Begin your day by giving Christ the first breath of your strength, asking Him to guide your steps and guard your spirit. At midday, pause, no matter where you are, no matter what you face and realign yourself with the presence of the Lord. The world may try to exhaust you, but prayer restores the warrior’s soul like water in a desert. And at night, before you lay down to rest, speak to God with honesty and gratitude. Release the burdens of the day into His hands so you may rest in peace and rise renewed.
Prayer is not a script. It is not empty repetition. It is not a cold intellectual exercise. Prayer is the opening of your heart, the expression of your deepest truths, your fears, your gratitude, your needs, your wounds, and your hopes. It must come from the very center of your being, from that sacred place where words are sometimes few, but sincerity is great. A prayer spoken from the heart carries more power than a thousand recited lines spoken without spirit.
If you have gone a long time without prayer…If your heart feels distant…If you feel numb, disconnected, or unsure…If the fire you once had for God has grown dim…
Do not be discouraged.
Simply come before the Lord with the raw, unpolished truth of your heart and say, “Lord, help me. Christ, draw me back to You.” The Father does not reject the one who calls out from a place of weakness. Christ Himself said, “Whoever comes to Me, I will never cast away.” God is not looking for perfect words, He is looking for an honest heart.
If you cannot pray long, then pray short. If you cannot pray loudly, then whisper. If you cannot find the right words, then let your silence become prayer.
The Lord listens not to the eloquence of your tongue, but to the sincerity of your spirit.
As your Chaplain, I encourage you: do not let a single day pass without seeking God’s presence. Even the strongest Protector becomes vulnerable when the connection with God grows weak. But the one who prays, even with trembling hands and a weary spirit, becomes strong once more. Prayer restores. Prayer strengthens. Prayer awakens the warrior within.
Brothers and Sisters of Tribe 13, pray in the morning, pray at midday, pray at night. Let your heart speak freely to God. And when you feel far from Him, simply ask with humility and honesty, and He will lift you back into His embrace.
This is the way of the Christian Warrior Protector. This is the discipline of the warrior of Christ. And this is the path that leads to strength, clarity, and peace.
Amen.

Amen!
This is inspirational to read. We have gone from the physical and and mental aspects of warrior training, to the spiritual aspect. Looking back through history, All of the cultures had some form of spiritual preparation going into battle. Dropping to my knees to humbly ask for speed, strength and wisdom for battles and giving thanks for what has been given, should be done daily.
Words of wisdom Thank you ❣️
Prayer is our most powerful weapon
