Spiritual Warfare EDC

In the world of tactical and survival gear, Everyday Carry (EDC) refers to the essentials you never leave home without. A knife. A flashlight. A multi-tool.

But what about your spiritual life?

I believe that every Christian Warrior-Protector must have a Spiritual EDC. A daily carry that keeps faith at your fingertips, wherever life takes you. Because faith isn’t just for Sunday. It’s how we live, work, and lead every day.

What Is Spiritual EDC?

If EDC helps you stay prepared for physical threats, then a Spiritual EDC prepares you for the unseen ones like temptation, discouragement, distraction, sin. The spiritual life is filled with battles of the heart and soul and you need to be equipped for those, too.

Your Spiritual EDC is a set of small but powerful tools for example your rosary, your prayer card, your bible , that help keep you grounded in God throughout your day.

Every day I move through a world that is unpredictable, demanding, and often hostile in ways that are both visible and invisible. Like many who take responsibility seriously, I carry an everyday loadout designed to protect life at the physical level (a knife, a firearm, a trauma medicine kit, and other practical tools) all this are about readiness and the understanding that chaos does not ask permission before it arrives. The body is not the only thing that requires protection. The soul does too.

This is why I carry what I call a spiritual warfare EDC also. Just as the physical world presents threats to the body, the spiritual world presents pressures against the mind, the will, and the conscience. Doubt, fear, pride, anger, temptation, and despair are not abstract concepts; they are forces that shape decisions and outcomes. Ignoring them does not make them disappear. Preparing for them is not paranoia, but wisdom. We have the physical warfare but also the spiritual warfare.

At the center of my spiritual EDC is a pocket-size Bible. This variant has The New Testament and from the Old Testament, Psalms and Proverbs. It is small enough to carry daily, yet vast enough to recalibrate an entire life. Scripture is not a lucky charm or a passive comfort; it is a compass. When the noise of the world becomes overwhelming, when judgment is clouded or emotions run hot, the Word provides orientation. It reminds me who I am, what is expected of me, and where my loyalty ultimately lies. In spiritual warfare, clarity is often the decisive advantage.

Alongside the Bible, I carry an icon of Saint Michael the Archangel. Michael is not a symbol of uncontrolled violence, but of obedience, justice, and righteous resistance. He is the defender who does not act on ego, but on divine command. His presence in my EDC serves as a reminder that spiritual battles are real and that resistance to evil must be grounded in humility. On the back of the icon is the Prayer of Saint Michael in Latin, connecting me to generations who understood that faith is not soft, that evil is not imaginary, and that protection begins with submission to God rather than confidence in oneself. Archangel Michael is the patron saint of Tribe 13.

I also carry a heavy-duty paracord rosary, built not for decoration but for endurance. Prayer is often misunderstood as passive, yet in reality it demands discipline, focus, and persistence. The rosary slows the mind, orders the thoughts, and reinforces intentionality. Each bead marks an act of resistance against distraction and despair. In moments of pressure or uncertainty, it becomes a physical anchor, reminding me that strength is cultivated through repetition and commitment, not emotion alone.

Another item of this spiritual EDC is the cross bearing the Medal of Saint Benedict, a symbol long associated with protection against evil and spiritual corruption. The inscriptions on the medal are not superstitious formulas; they are firm rejections. They reject pride, chaos, and submission to darkness. They declare that evil has limits and that discipline is the first line of defense. The cross itself stands as the ultimate reminder that victory does not always look like domination, and that sacrifice, obedience, and perseverance are often the true weapons.

Carrying a spiritual warfare EDC is not about fear or theatrics. It is about awareness and responsibility. Just as I would never leave home without tools to respond to physical danger or medical emergency, I refuse to move through life spiritually unarmed. The unseen battles shape the visible outcomes more often than we care to admit. What we carry internally determines how we act externally.

In the end, preparedness is a reflection of values. We protect what we believe is worth protecting. The body is temporary, but the soul is eternal. And every day, whether quietly or violently, something is trying to shape both.

Heavy duty ordnance. You’re outgunning the enemy.

Following is a Knights Templar ring I recently picked up to remind me daily of my personal commitment to prayer and Tribe13.
